Taeyeon has unblocked new fans from following her Instagram account, just hours after setting her account to private.
The Girls’ Generation member set her Instagram account to private
earlier today after receiving hateful comments from upset fans.
Those following Taeyeon before the change were not affected, but new
fans were not able to follow the singer, unless she approved.
It is unclear why Taeyeon privated her account, but it could have
been a move to prevent the hateful comments she had been receiving.
Many fans who are already following the idol have changed their
username to “don’t_block_me_taeyeon” or alike, in case the singer blocks
them from seeing her posts.
The singer posted a series of comments on Instagram yesterday, where both EXO and Girls’ Generation fans left hateful messages.
“You were really surprise and hurt because of me today, right?”
“I’m really sorry that I made you feel things you didn’t need to feel and the article happened because I wasn’t more careful,
“I’m really sorry I hurt you.” Taeyeon commented on a photo of an Oreo she posted.
Korean idols often sign contracts stating that they won’t date during
the term of their music careers due to the culture of fans overreacting
to news of idols dating.
Both Girls’ Generation and EXO fans have left hurtful comments on
both of the idols’ social media pages after it was revealed the two had
been dating for four months.
Many fans have let comments such as “I don’t trust Taeyeon anymore” and “I don’t like her anymore.”
Taeyeon, who has been apologetic over the news report, did her best to sympathise with fans.
“I think that you will be feeling great disappointment, anger, hate, frustration and emptiness and other emotions,”
“I can accept all of that and I want to apologise.
“I don’t know if it’s just me thinking this but it means that you
liked me that much, and supported me and works that much for me.”
Taeyeon and Baekhyun’s relationship was confirmed by their agency this week after a Korean media caught the couple on a date.
